About the role

What you’ll do

• Lead design and architecture for PostgreSQL data models and Datastore systems
• Own significant parts of the GraphQL API serving clinical-study brain data
• Design event-driven pipelines end to end, including producers, consumers, replay, and idempotency
• Drive schema evolution with zero-downtime migrations, dual-write transitions, and backfill
• Operate PostgreSQL in production, including upgrades, replication, backup/restore, and connection pooling
• Collaborate across platform, application, scientific, and clinical teams

What you’ll need

• 7+ years of backend development experience, including 3+ years on data platforms and backend infrastructure
• Strong SQL proficiency with production PostgreSQL experience, including schema design, indexes, and query plans
• Hands-on experience with Kafka or equivalent event streaming technology
• Experience deploying and operating services in containerized environments with Kubernetes and IaC tools such as Terraform or Helm
• Track record of mentoring engineers and improving team practices, tooling, test coverage, or documentation
• Experience with or interest in LLM-assisted or agentic coding tools in production settings
