About the role
Starburst's Enterprise Context Layer turns scattered data into governed, versioned Data Products. The Senior Software Engineer will build backend services to harvest, govern, and serve business context, while shaping architecture for humans and AI agents.
What you’ll do
Build and operate backend services to harvest, govern, and serve business context
Shape architecture and product capabilities for humans and AI agents
Design and operate REST APIs
Model and serve graph-structured or richly-relational data
Integrate LLMs into backend systems for structured extraction and enrichment
Use agentic coding tools with guardrails in production work
What you’ll need
Extensive software development experience with Java and full-stack versatility
Experience designing, building, and operating distributed backend services in production
Experience designing and operating REST APIs
Experience modeling and serving graph-structured or richly-relational data
Experience integrating LLMs into backend systems
Experience with data catalogs, semantic layers, or metadata/governance systems
