About the role
Roku is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to scale and evolve its Demand Bidder platform, building and operating high-throughput, low-latency advertising decision systems end-to-end and improving reliability and engineering practices.
What you’ll do
Scale and evolve the Demand Bidder platform
Build and operate high-throughput, low-latency advertising decision systems
Own key subsystems end-to-end from design through on-call
Improve reliability and engineering practices
Evolve and refactor live business-critical systems without compromising uptime
Leverage AI coding assistants to accelerate design, implementation, and debugging
What you’ll need
10+ years designing, building, and operating large-scale, low-latency distributed systems
Proven track record owning complex systems end-to-end
Strong command of Java with solid foundations in algorithms, data structures, concurrency, and performance optimization
Experience with distributed caching, high-throughput messaging/streaming, and SQL/NoSQL datastores
Comfort operating in cloud infrastructure (GCP or AWS) at scale
Collaborative, low-ego, and experienced using AI coding assistants in production work
