About the role
Kong is hiring a Staff Solutions Engineer to advise enterprise customers on architecting secure, scalable API ecosystems and adopting AI connectivity solutions. The role supports sales, leads technical evaluations and enterprise deal strategy, and collaborates with product and engineering teams to represent customer needs.
What you’ll do

What you’ll need
7+ years of software/solutions engineering experience at a SaaS, open source, or enterprise software company
Proven track record owning complex enterprise-level deals with multiple technical and executive stakeholders
Experience mentoring or coaching other SEs or technical team members
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud-native platforms, REST/GraphQL APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and API security (OAuth2, OIDC, mTLS)
Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tooling (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex)
Working knowledge of AI/LLM architectures, MCP, and agentic AI patterns
