About the role
GitLab is hiring a Director of Data Science to lead Product, Sales, and Finance data science teams, driving growth and executive decision-making while setting high technical standards and developing managers in an all-remote environment.
What you’ll do
Build trusted executive relationships across Product, Finance, and GTM
Own investment and prioritization across data science teams
Lead cross-functional programs to drive product adoption and consumption growth
Coach and mentor managers and senior ICs
Set org-wide standards for metric definition, causal inference, and predictive modeling
Partner with analytics and data engineering teams on a shared data and AI roadmap
What you’ll need
12+ years in data science, product analytics, or related field, including 6+ years leading teams and 3+ years managing managers
Track record of building and scaling a data science or analytics organization as a strategic partner
Executive presence and ability to communicate complex findings to the C-suite
Deep expertise in statistics, experimentation, and causal inference with technical depth in SQL, Python, and ML
Clear point of view on how AI is reshaping data science and analytics
Ability to thrive in an all-remote, asynchronous company using GitLab
