About the role
Cerence AI is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build the application and voice AI layer for humanoid robots, combining conversational AI with robotics. The role involves developing behavior logic, multimodal context systems, and scalable edge/cloud software in a remote setting.
What you’ll do
Develop application software and behavior logic for humanoid robots
Build voice applications and multimodal context systems
Translate human intent into useful robotic actions
Design scalable API-driven and event-driven architectures
Integrate cloud AI services and model serving platforms
Implement testing, observability, and CI/CD practices
What you’ll need
5+ years of professional software engineering experience with Python and/or C++
Strong proficiency in BehaviorTree.CPP, state machines, or task-planning architectures
Hands-on experience with LLMs, VLMs, agent frameworks, RAG, or semantic memory
Experience with ROS2 applications, services, actions, and topics
Experience integrating speech platforms (STT/TTS/NLU) and cloud AI services
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Software Engineering, AI, or a related discipline
