About the role
This senior role owns the full software stack for BREAKFAST's kinetic motor-driven art installations, covering firmware, host services, fleet tools, and reliability. The ideal candidate brings deep C/Linux/Python systems experience and a track record of shipping field-hardened hardware.
What you’ll do
Develop and maintain end-to-end software stack for motor-driven installations
Build and maintain firmware for motor control systems
Maintain host services and fleet tools
Ensure reliability of systems running in the field
Own systems and act as the point person when issues arise
What you’ll need
7+ years shipping hardware or systems that run in the field
History of owning a system end-to-end
Strong C on microcontrollers or strong Linux systems and Python
Distributed-systems instincts with buses, protocols, and timing
Experience with motor control, stepper drivers, encoders, and homing
Familiarity with RS-485/CAN, STM32 HAL, vision pipelines, KiCad, and MIDI
