About the role
Planet seeks a Technical Program Manager to embed trade compliance into product architecture and workflows, partnering with product, software development, and data analytics teams. The role drives ITAR/EAR and OFAC/sanctions compliance across software development, export classification, and customer screening in a hybrid Washington, DC setting.
What you’ll do
Translate trade regulations into scalable product features, workflows, and technical processes
Drive ITAR/EAR and OFAC/sanctions compliance across product architecture, software development, export classification, and customer screening
Collaborate with engineering teams on cloud infrastructure, APIs, containerization, and data pipeline design
Manage product lifecycle from concept through launch, deprecations, and end-of-life
Communicate findings and recommendations to business leaders and engineers
Balance tactical day-to-day work with forward-looking improvements to scale operational efficiencies
What you’ll need
4-6 years of relevant software development or program management experience
Demonstrated experience with cloud infrastructure, APIs, containerization, and data pipeline design
Practical knowledge of ITAR and EAR as applied to software, dual-use items, encryption, and satellite/geospatial data
Experience with the product life cycle from concept through development, launch, and end-of-life
Experience working in CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and Agile environments
Ability to obtain clearance and access export-controlled information without additional export licensing
