About the role
Come Near seeks a Staff Software Engineer to own technical design and architecture for its personalized digital engagement platform, leading across products, data, and cloud infrastructure while contributing code and guiding vendor decisions. What you’ll do
Own technical design of the personalized digital engagement platform
Lead architecture across products, data platforms, and cloud infrastructure
Contribute code and guide security, reliability, scalability, and vendor engineering decisions
Influence internal and external engineers without formal authority
Drive complex multi-week technical initiatives with minimal oversight
Produce clear architecture decisions, design documents, and review feedback
What you’ll need
10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including Staff/Principal/Architect level
Deep expertise in modern web platform architecture (Next.js or similar), API design, content platforms, and edge/CDN
Strong cloud infrastructure expertise (AWS preferred) with IAM, resiliency, autoscaling, observability, and cost optimization
Experience owning infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and CI/CD systems
Experience designing, building, and operating highly scalable distributed systems
