About the role
SimpliSafe is seeking a Staff Backend Software Engineer to set technical direction and architecture for its User Systems Platform, building and operating cloud-based backend systems for native mobile apps while leading cross-team technical initiatives.
What you’ll do
Set technical direction and architecture for the User Systems Platform
Build and operate cloud-based backend systems for native mobile applications
Lead cross-team technical initiatives
Drive engineering excellence across the organization
Influence technical decisions across organizational boundaries
What you’ll need
Extensive software engineering experience with significant time leading technical projects at Staff level
Deep experience designing, building, and operating distributed, high-volume backend systems and REST/gRPC APIs
Proficiency in at least one major programming language with adaptability to multiple languages
Proven ability to architect using event-driven architectures, domain-driven design, and containerization with Docker/Kubernetes
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms and operational tools for monitoring, logging, and CI/CD
Excellent communication and presentation skills with experience influencing decisions across teams; familiarity with Agile and DevOps
