About the role
AMD seeks a Principal Member of Technical Staff to design, develop, and debug systems-level software for semiconductor products, lead root-cause analysis, and drive x86 ISA strategy. The role requires deep x86 and Linux kernel expertise, including KVM/QEMU and confidential computing.
What you’ll do
Design, develop, test, and debug systems-level software for semiconductor systems and products
Lead root-cause analysis and debug efforts
Improve debug tools and methodologies
Provide technical guidance and long-range strategy
Evaluate and co-develop next generation x86 ISA with IP Architecture/Design
What you’ll need
Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
Five years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role, or Bachelor's degree plus seven years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience
Knowledge of x86 computing architecture and microarchitecture
Upstream Linux kernel maintainer experience
Experience with confidential computing and CPU vulnerability mitigations
Experience with kernels, virtualization, security, and open source projects including Linux KVM and QEMU
