About the role
Holistiplan seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to build and maintain backend features on their Django platform, optimize data systems, protect sensitive information, and support production architecture.
What you’ll do
Build and maintain backend features across the Django platform
Optimize data systems and protect sensitive information
Contribute to architecture and production support
Partner with business stakeholders to clarify requirements and deliver complex backend projects
Use AI coding tools responsibly while validating resulting code
What you’ll need
6+ years of professional Python experience, including 3+ years building production Django applications
2+ years designing and maintaining RESTful APIs with Django REST Framework or FastAPI
Strong Django and relational database fundamentals including ORM, migrations, SQL, and query performance
Demonstrated experience partnering with stakeholders to deliver complex backend projects
Experience with AWS, Celery, task queues, and production observability tools such as Sentry
Experience with AI coding tools, MCP servers, and familiarity with tax planning or fintech domains
