About the role
Lead AI/ML engineer at Optum Tech's Enterprise AI organization, responsible for designing and building an end-to-end AI lifecycle governance platform that connects pre-production governance with runtime monitoring. This remote role involves hands-on engineering, cross-team collaboration, and setting technical standards for responsible AI across the enterprise.
What you’ll do
Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions with emphasis on responsible AI
Architect and implement end-to-end AI lifecycle governance capabilities
Design technical integrations linking pre-production governance with post-production monitoring
Define data flows, interfaces, and integration contracts for lifecycle traceability
Build and deploy core integration components through hands-on engineering and automated testing
Partner with cross-functional teams to align on technical designs and execution sequencing
What you’ll need
Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of software engineering or AI/ML engineering experience
5+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML or software engineering with production-level AI systems
3+ years of experience designing multi-component distributed systems or platform architectures
3+ years of experience developing production-grade services and integrations using Python
2+ years of experience with governance, runtime monitoring, observability, or lifecycle management of AI systems
2+ years of experience leading technical design or guiding engineering teams
