About the role
Amtrak is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design, develop, and support Java-based enterprise applications and APIs within its Digital organization, leading technical design and modernization for complex systems. The role is onsite in Washington DC, Philadelphia, Wilmington, or Chicago.
What you’ll do
Design, develop, and support enterprise applications and APIs
Lead technical design and modernization efforts
Provide operational support for complex systems
Work in Agile/SAFe environments
Articulate complex architectures and communicate effectively
What you’ll need
7+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on Java-based enterprise applications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience
Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and object-oriented design
Hands-on experience with AWS services including Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB, Aurora, Redshift, S3, IAM, SNS/SQS, and CloudWatch
Strong experience with J2EE technologies, Oracle/SQL, messaging technologies, JSON/XML, and enterprise integration patterns
Experience in Agile/SAFe environments with strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills
