About the role
GreatSchools seeks a Director of Technical Operations to lead infrastructure, systems, and operational practices across a remote-first nonprofit, overseeing production infrastructure, release/data operations, security, and enterprise systems while working with engineering and operations leadership.
What you’ll do
Lead infrastructure, systems, and operational practices
Oversee production infrastructure and release/data operations
Manage security and incident response
Oversee enterprise systems and internal technology support
Coordinate vendors and cross-functional partners
Plan sustainable upgrades and migrations for legacy systems
What you’ll need
10+ years of progressive experience in technical operations, systems administration, or infrastructure engineering
Hands-on experience with AWS core services and cloud architecture
Experience with Unix/Linux or FreeBSD administration, networking, DNS, TLS, and troubleshooting distributed systems
Experience with deployment automation, configuration management, scripting, source control, monitoring, backups, and incident response
Working knowledge of identity and access management, Google Workspace administration, endpoint management, and practical security controls
Commitment to documentation, knowledge sharing, responsive service, and GreatSchools' mission
