About the role
Nextdoor is hiring a senior product designer to establish the design foundation and shape the full search journey, including organic and sponsored results, in an AI-first, experimentation-driven environment. The role partners with product, data science, machine learning, and research teams to rebuild how neighbors find local information.
What you’ll do
Establish the design foundation and shape the full search journey
Design organic and sponsored search results
Partner with product, data science, machine learning, and research teams
Design paid placements that feel helpful rather than interruptive
Use AI tools and take ownership of AI-assisted outputs
Drive engagement and revenue through design and experimentation
What you’ll need
5+ years of product design experience on search, discovery, or content-heavy surfaces
Portfolio showing full-range craft: framing, interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and loading/empty/error states
Fluency in search mechanics and ML/LLM features
Experience partnering with ads or monetization teams
Record of lifting engagement and revenue through design
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Swift, Java, or Xcode
