About the role
Fivetran is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the dbt platform's Metadata team to design and scale discovery API, catalog, lineage, and run history services. The role focuses on building high-performance, reliable backend features for modern data pipelines.
What you’ll do
Design and deliver features for the Metadata team's services (discovery API, catalog, lineage, run history)
Improve service performance, reliability, and scalability
Lead feature-level software and design work, explaining trade-offs
Identify design flaws in existing systems and propose improvements
Participate in code reviews, design, troubleshooting, and testing
What you’ll need
5+ years of software industry experience
Experience with distributed systems and cloud computing
Proficiency in a modern backend language (Python, Java, C++, or C#)
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
Experience with GraphQL APIs and high-throughput, multi-tenant data services
