About the role
The Data Governance Specialist supports the implementation and ongoing maturity of an enterprise data governance program, partnering with data owners, stewards, and technology teams to improve metadata, data quality, and compliance. The role facilitates governance activities, drives stakeholder engagement, and promotes adoption of governance standards and tools.
What you’ll do
Support implementation and maturation of the enterprise data governance framework
Facilitate governance councils, stewardship forums, working groups, and governance-related meetings
Partner with business unit leads to identify and document Data Owners and Business Data Stewards
Coordinate metadata collection and validation activities with business and technical stakeholders
Facilitate identification, prioritization, and escalation of data quality issues
Drive adoption of governance processes and stewardship practices through education and stakeholder engagement
What you’ll need
Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Business, Information Systems, Data Management, Analytics, Computer Science, or related discipline
3-5 years of practical experience in data governance, data quality, metadata management, business analysis, risk management, compliance, records management, or a related field
Practical experience applying privacy laws such as GDPR and/or CCPA in a corporate environment
Practical experience with governance and catalog platforms such as Informatica Data Catalog, Informatica CDGC, Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, or similar tools
Proficient in SQL to pull, audit and analyze data sets
Knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK principles and governance best practices
