About the role
Ro is hiring a Legal Counsel II to review advertising and claims for FDA- and FTC-regulated health products, ensuring truthfulness, accuracy, and adequate substantiation. The role partners with regulatory, clinical, and marketing teams to assess legal risk and guide consumer-facing advertising across platforms.
What you’ll do
Serve as internal subject matter expert on FTC and FDA advertising and marketing issues for health products
Review and advise on product claims, claim substantiation, and supporting evidence
Participate in the medical-legal-regulatory-marketing review team to assess legal and regulatory risk
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on strategic initiatives and advertising campaigns
Monitor FDA and FTC regulations, state laws, industry trends, and enforcement actions
Maintain documentation of claim reviews and substantiation assessments
What you’ll need
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active state bar membership in good standing
5+ years of experience advising on claims and substantiation for FDA- or FTC-regulated products
Experience evaluating scientific and clinical evidence to substantiate advertising claims
Strong knowledge of FTC advertising substantiation standards and FDA regulations
Familiarity with FTC enforcement actions, Lanham Act challenges, false advertising litigation, and NAD proceedings
Strong analytical, research, writing, and communication skills
