About the role
Sierra Lobo is seeking a senior opto-mechanical engineer to support its Pasadena team and JPL and commercial aerospace customers, focusing on the design, analysis, testing, and fabrication of spaceflight imaging instruments and optical systems.
What you’ll do
Design, analyze, test, and fabricate spaceflight imaging instruments and optical systems
Take designs from requirement definition through drawing generation, fabrication, assembly, and test
Perform structural analysis of components and assemblies using hand calculations and finite element analyses
Work in a customer-focused team environment supporting JPL and commercial aerospace customers
What you’ll need
BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or similar
10-15 years of industry experience
Experience with Siemens NX CAD tool
Experience with mechanical drawing generation using GD&T principles
Experience performing detailed structural analysis, including first-order hand calculations and finite element analyses
Broad understanding of opto-mechanical systems including mounting optical elements and optical instrument structural design
