About the role

What you’ll do

• Design, build, and operate backend services and distributed systems
• Build data pipelines and secure platform capabilities
• Take end-to-end ownership of production systems, including responding to production issues
• Design and implement REST APIs consumed by other services or teams
• Define architecture and deliver complex distributed systems across multiple teams or products
• Author technical designs and lead technical direction across organizational boundaries

What you’ll need

• 3+ years of professional experience designing, building, and operating backend systems in production
• Proficiency in Python or a comparable language with the ability to work primarily in Python
• Solid grounding in distributed-systems fundamentals including concurrency, consistency, asynchronous processing, failure modes, and idempotency
• Experience with a major cloud platform, relational databases, REST APIs, and asynchronous/event-driven processing
• Experience with automated testing, continuous integration, containerized deployment, and observability practices
• Demonstrated technical leadership defining architecture and delivering complex distributed systems across teams or products
