About the role
Temporal is hiring a senior backend engineer to design and build systems powering Temporal Cloud's customer experience, including Namespaces, Audit Logs, and Export. The role involves leading technical design, building reliable data pipelines, and owning production operations in a remote, cloud-focused environment.
What you’ll do
Lead technical design and delivery for cloud application systems
Develop reliable data pipelines ensuring correctness and traceability
Partner with engineering and product to improve system quality and scalability
Own architecture and operational outcomes, including incident response
Simplify complex workflows and improve tooling
Translate ambiguous requirements into executable technical plans
What you’ll need
Experience designing and delivering production-grade backend systems in cloud environments
Strong proficiency in at least one systems or backend language, Go preferred
Hands-on experience building and operating distributed systems
Experience with data pipelines and storage systems like Postgres, Redshift, Kafka/Kinesis, S3, Clickhouse
Production operations experience including observability, incident response, and on-call
Strong communication skills and ability to align stakeholders on tradeoffs
