About the role
Thresh Consulting seeks a Senior Applied AI Engineer to design, build, and ship production agent systems and provide technical leadership to client teams. The role focuses on LLM-powered agents, harnesses, tool integration, evals, and AI-system tradeoffs.
What you’ll do
Build and ship production agent systems, harnesses, tools, context layers, and evaluations
Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers
Partner with client teams on AI system delivery
Advise technical and business leaders on AI system tradeoffs
Read traces and debug across the model, harness, and backend systems
Advise clients when an agent or workflow is not the right solution
What you’ll need
7+ years shipping production software, including 2+ years building LLM-powered systems for real users
Production experience with agents and harnesses on LLM APIs and agent tooling (e.g., Claude, OpenAI, Gemini; Claude Agent SDK, LangGraph)
Production experience with tool integration (MCP or comparable), retrieval, and eval frameworks
Working command of LLM risks and cost/latency/quality tradeoffs
Back-end strength in Python/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, vector stores, cloud AI services, CI/CD, and Docker
Professional services experience strongly preferred
