About the role
American Express is building an enterprise Agentic AI Platform to safely enable AI agents at scale. This Senior AI Engineer will design and implement platform capabilities for agent execution, governance, observability, evaluation, developer tooling, and AI CI/CD.
What you’ll do
Design and implement enterprise Agentic AI platform capabilities
Build agent execution and orchestration infrastructure
Implement governance, security, and policy controls
Develop observability, evaluation, and quality measurement systems
Build developer tooling and AI CI/CD pipelines
Collaborate across engineering, architecture, product, security, and governance teams
What you’ll need
Bachelor's degree required
Strong software engineering experience building production systems with Python, Java, Go, or TypeScript
Strong understanding of Generative AI, LLMs, agent architectures, tool/function calling, retrieval, context management, and agent orchestration
Experience with Kubernetes, containers, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native architecture
Experience designing production APIs and event-driven/asynchronous systems
Strong understanding of security fundamentals and ability to navigate ambiguous technical problems
