About the role

What you’ll do

• Own architecture and hands-on development of the Populus.ai and Elevate platform
• Lead platform reliability, security, data products, and integrations
• Guide a distributed engineering team through technical leadership
• Write production code as a core part of the job
• Mentor distributed or offshore engineers across time zones
• Debug complex data issues end to end

What you’ll need

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a principal, staff, or lead role owning system architecture
• Expert Python with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, and Pandas; strong PostgreSQL and geospatial data skills
• Production front-end experience with TypeScript, React, and map-based interfaces like Mapbox GL JS
• Production experience on Google Cloud Platform and Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
• Experience building and operating ETL pipelines with Apache Airflow or similar, plus Docker and CI/CD with GitHub
• Hands-on experience using AI coding agents and experience mentoring distributed engineering teams
