About the role
ProphetX is hiring a Staff Backend Engineer to own the architecture, reliability, and scalability of its low-latency trading and exchange systems while providing technical direction across teams. The role requires deep backend and distributed systems expertise, including event-driven architecture, cloud-native infrastructure, and cross-team leadership.
What you’ll do
Set technical direction across teams
Own complex systems behind exchange and trading infrastructure
Architect reliable, scalable, low-latency exchange systems
Lead cross-team technical initiatives
Ensure production systems are compliant and operate at scale
What you’ll need
7+ years of backend experience with Go, Java, C++, or Python (Go strongly preferred)
Proven experience designing and operating highly scalable, low-latency, real-time distributed systems in production
Deep expertise in microservices, event-driven architecture (Kafka), and RESTful/WebSocket API design
Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL data modeling and performance tuning
Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD at scale
Demonstrated cross-team leadership and strong communication of complex tradeoffs
