About the role
This Sr Legal Counsel role provides legal and regulatory guidance for consumer checkout products across the Americas, supporting product teams and regional partners on compliance, disclosures, and risk mitigation. The hybrid position is based in San Jose and is ideal for an experienced FinTech product attorney.
What you’ll do
Provide legal and regulatory guidance on the design and modification of products
Advise on federal and state consumer financial laws, consumer protection laws, and data privacy laws
Review product user experiences to ensure legal compliance and proper disclosures
Identify associated risks and recommend mitigation strategies
Collaborate with international colleagues to evaluate products in global markets
Document guidance for legal and product teams
What you’ll need
Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree and active state bar membership
8-10+ years of legal experience with at least 5 years in product or regulatory counseling in Finance or FinTech
Experience advising on CFPB and FTC rules, enforcement actions, and regulatory guidance
Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills
Ability to handle ambiguity, multiple assignments, and conflicting priorities
Familiarity with PayPal, mobile and alternative payments, and emerging payments technology
