About the role

What you’ll do

• Own embedded platform software for the da Vinci 5 surgical system
• Lead board bring-up, architecture, and validation efforts
• Drive cross-functional technical collaboration
• Mentor and technically develop junior and mid-level engineers
• Resolve complex multi-layer hardware-FPGA-software integration failures
• Participate in all phases of the product development lifecycle through transfer to manufacturing

What you’ll need

• Minimum 8 years related experience with Bachelor's, 6 years with Master's, or PhD with 3 years (or equivalent)
• Expert-level C and C++ for embedded systems including memory management, real-time constraints, and performance-critical code
• Deep expertise in embedded Linux, kernel internals, custom device drivers, BSP bring-up, and user space applications
• Proficiency with GDB, JTAG, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, cross-compilation toolchains, and hardware interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet, and CAN
• Experience in FDA-regulated or safety-critical environments with design controls, traceability, and risk management
• Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Jetson or comparable ARM SoCs, CUDA/TensorRT, QNX RTOS, and Python/bash scripting
