About the role
Cargomatic seeks an AI Engineer to automate logistics workflows across pricing, dispatch, documents, billing, and invoicing by designing and delivering production AI and automation solutions. The role partners with Engineering, Platform, Operations, and RPA teams and requires strong judgment on when to use LLMs, deterministic software, or RPA.
What you’ll do
Design and deliver production AI and automation solutions
Automate logistics workflows across pricing, dispatch, documents, billing, and invoicing
Evaluate and integrate third-party AI or automation tools
Build evaluation systems for non-deterministic AI outputs
Partner with Engineering, Platform, Operations, and RPA teams
Communicate system designs and tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders
What you’ll need
5+ years of software engineering experience
Hands-on experience shipping LLM-based or automation systems to production
Experience with LLM APIs and agentic patterns
Strong backend engineering with REST/GraphQL on AWS (Node.js/TypeScript)
Experience building evaluation for non-deterministic systems
Track record of shipping working systems beyond demos or prototypes
