About the role
AppFolio is hiring a Manager, Applied Data Science to lead its Platform Data Science team in building AI and machine learning products while remaining hands-on with model development and deployment. The role combines team leadership, cross-functional delivery, and production model work across sales, marketing, customer success, and finance use cases.
What you’ll do
Lead and coach a team of data scientists
Build and deploy predictive models from raw data to production
Develop AI/ML products including signal models, natural-language analytics, and forecasting automations
Partner with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Finance on delivery
Set priorities with senior leadership and communicate actionable recommendations
Monitor and retrain classification and propensity models
What you’ll need
Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
8+ years building and deploying predictive models in production
2+ years leading data scientists as a manager or technical lead
Strong Python and SQL programming background
Experience with classification/propensity models and experimental design
Experience with LLM-based products, Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, and Salesforce
