About the role
Sentry seeks a Senior Software Engineer for its Foundational Storage team to build and operate storage systems and abstractions across its application monitoring platform, focusing on consistency, availability, performance, security, and cost efficiency. What you’ll do
Build and operate storage systems and abstractions used across Sentry
Improve consistency, availability, performance, security, and cost efficiency of storage
Operate distributed, stateful systems in production
Run services on Kubernetes in a cloud environment
Maintain observability, SLOs, and incident response
Build shared libraries/internal APIs and migrate data between systems
What you’ll need
5+ years building and operating distributed, stateful systems in production
Hands-on experience with object storage, relational databases, or caching systems at production scale
Understanding of distributed systems fundamentals including consistency, concurrency, and retries
Proficiency in a systems language such as Go, C++, Java, or Rust, and comfort working in Python
Experience running services on Kubernetes in a cloud environment with observability, SLOs, and incident response
Good written and spoken English for explaining technical choices and writing documentation
