Manage and lead an applied science team at Garner Health building production algorithmic systems that drive healthcare decisions, including provider tiering, AI-driven primary care, and member engagement optimization. This hybrid role is based in New York City with three in-office days per week.
What you’ll do
Lead a team building production algorithmic systems for core product decisions
Oversee provider tiering, AI-driven primary care experiences, and member engagement optimization
Stay hands-on while providing technical judgment and guidance to expert scientists
Define good metrics and deliver solutions that improve them
Translate ideas into working prototypes quickly to test approaches
Drive alignment across teams and functions, including executive-level communication
What you’ll need
6+ years of industry experience as an Applied Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, Research Scientist, or equivalent; or 4+ years with a relevant advanced degree, PhDs preferred
Deep technical credibility and judgment to lead scientists who are experts in their own right
Strong judgment in choosing between statistical models, heuristics, optimization approaches, and simpler algorithmic methods
Strong applied problem-solving skills with the ability to define and improve metrics
A bias toward action and ability to quickly build working prototypes
Strong communication skills, including at the executive level
